The attack on Kobane by the fundamentalists of the Isis shows a clear logic: the will to attack an experiment of sovereign autonomy and self-government of free and peer regardless of ethnicity or religion. The most distant reality from the crazy project of a Califate ruled by sharia. The Jihadist have been attacking the autonomous region of Rojova for the last three years. They can do it because the are relaying on the silence of the international community. It is clear that the United States put a focus on the region only in the moment the started to see their interests in danger, that is with the occupation of the Iraqi oil regions by the Isis.
The same logic is totally coherent with the disposal applied to the production of contents in terms of media communication: the more articles and reportage, appearing even on glamour magazines, try to emphasize the extraordinary role of women in Roja's guerrilla, the less happens to find mentioned the initials of the same political party and self-defense groups, in which those militants are active. PKK and YPG have been blacked out and this is meant in order to cloud the only organizations able to stem the tide of IS aggression toward villages of other regions and to rescue thousands of men and women with an humanitarian corridor in Sinjar.
In this political scenario Turkey makes its move, his long time baking policy to jihadist militia is paid back in kurds repression and against the old enemy Assad. Thousands of men and women are fiercely fighting in Rojava to save a practice of self government between equals and in respect of differences . They have achieved rights and freedom not only for Kurds since the foundation of the practice of open citizenship to whom lives the territory regardless of religion, gender, ethnicity.
We need to turn upside-down the focus of mainstream communication, a narration of aesthetic aspects rather than the much more interesting political reasons that brought them to self defend their autonomy.
We join the call from Kurdistan to occupy the public scene on the side of Rojava's resistance and that-s the reason why we stand with our bodies in the squares in Italy in this days.
We believe that the guilty silence is a real shame, and in front of the international community we speak out against the ambiguous role of Turkey.
